Another example of racial profiling

This is a story taken from a local paper in which a recent drug arrest was made on Interstate 40. The names have been omitted.

A traffic violation observed Friday night by [name omitted] led to discovery of just over
300,000 pounds of marijuana in a 2004 Ford F-250 driven be a black male from Las
Vegas.

[name omitted] said he stopped the vehicle at the 32 mile marker (I-40) at 11:53 p.m., and

became suspicious of the driver’s nervousness, his reason for travel and the fact that the truck
bed was covered.

After giving consent for a search of the vehicle, the driver [name omitted] 34, admitted that

he was hauling marijuana, according to [name omitted]. The drug, found inside five cardboard
boxes, had an estimated street value of about $300,000.

[name omitted] was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver,

and the vehicle and marijuana were turned over to the 5th Judicial District Task Force.

Bond of $100,000 was set Monday be [name omitted].

The part of this story that raises questions is the fact that this man was arrested on Interstate 40, notorious for racial profiling; he was a black make from out of state. Also the traffic violation that was observed was never specified in the article. Maybe in the future that traffic violation that was observed needs to be made public.

This is just another example of unconstitutional racial profiling that is occurring on Arkansas highways. Again, I commend law enforcement efforts to curb the drug trade, however, the constitution must be honored for the sake of all.

Doesn't sound like racial profiling to me. They pulled him over for a traffic violation and found drugs. What's the problem? Seems to me your beef ought to be with the journalist, not law enforcement.
